February 8 2010 The team had a great day yesterday with 2 wins from 3 starters. Cushion Track specialists CHEAPSKATERUBI and VISION OF FALVELON romped home at long odds to win. It's great to see the Cushion Track in cool conditions instead of the hot conditions that favours front runners. Both horses were last turning for home and took advantage of outside runs. Apprentice Shaun Guymer steered both horses to victory and was rewarded with a write up in the local paper, well done Shaun! It was extra special for part owners Bruce and Heather Deegan from Caloundra City Realty as they sponsored the race. We also have to thank Danny & Kelli Williams for allowing Shaun to stay on loan in Queensland with the stable as we know he is in demand at home! http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/story/2010/02/08/young-hoop-tackles-hiccup-with-finesse/

CITY LIMITS impeccable breeding stood up on Sunday winning the HOT 91 Maiden Handicap over 1400m. "Darby" is by the great sire "Encosta De Lago" out of "City Ex" and was sourced by Cameron Barnes Bloodstock in partnership with Kristie Clark-Peoples, Denise Scriven and Dexter Sullivan. Cameron Barnes has sourced 15 winners at Caloundra, the best to date being Jason Mclachlan's In Rehearsal. Cameron can be contacted on 0402717849.

L-R: Trainer David Peoples, Strapper Gino Teserio, Owners Denise Scriven and Dexter Sullivan. Breeze Up preparation has begun and we have bought the first draft into the stables. This year will be our best catalogue to date and there are some nice horses on offer. Updates will be provided and listed on the "For Sale" page. SHAKARA (ridden by Damien Browne) broke through and won the Blacklaw Civil Contractor (C6) 1200m at the Toowoomba Cushion Track opening meeting (11.07.09). We were quietly confident as he gallops on the cushion track at Caloundra and went into the race with good form.
SCONANDTINK was unlucky coming up 3rd in a 3 way photo the next day at the Sunshine Coast (12.07.09) After going down by a nose x nose he is taking a well earned break after a good campaign
SCONANDTINK - Ridden by Jana Piper![]() VISION OF FALVELON proved she has been worth the wait when she won the 1600m Maiden on the Cushion Track last Saturday. She has been a problem child with her barrier manners however the penny has dropped and we hope she is on track for bigger things this winter. Congrats to Mick & Sandy Patteson of Mackay for being patient with her
![]() Vision of Falvelon ridden by Michael Heagney. Farewell to "JOEY" (Registered name COVER YOUR EARS) who is Singapore bound. We secured Joey at the Breeze Up sales after Joe Singh purchased him and decided to leave him in Australia to be educated. He did well before going shin sore and we hope he will be competitive on the Singapore 2YO scene. CHEAPSKATERUBI broke through with an overdue win in the xxxx Maiden Plate 1100m at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday (22nd Feb). Congrats to the owners Daryl & Fiona Cook, Bruce Deegan and John Longhurst as RUBY has had a lot of feet problems since he was a 2YO which has restricted his true potential. RUBY has appreciated racing on the cushion track combined with regular treatments.

Winning Connections (L-R) John Longhurst, Bruce Deegan, Gino Teserio, Owen Turpin, Heather Deegan, David Peoples. What a great win for DOUBLE ISLAND's connections yesterday at the Sunshine Coast. Owned by Georgie Sidebottom, Bruce Deegan and Paul Handby big "KEL" was having his first ever race start as a 4YO and won impressively over the 1000m journey. We were quietly confident until the horror barrier draw on Thursday so it was an even better effort coming out of 15 with the rail out 8m. A superb ride by Jason Holder and rewarding win for the owners who have been patient with this 17 hand son of Clang.
Winners are grinners (L-R) Georgie & Kel Sidebottom, Kristie Clark-Peoples, Paul & Patricia Handby, (Back) Gino Teserio, Jason Holder, David Peoples (Trainer)SHAKARA has "broke the drought" for the stable in town and won in style over 1000m at Eagle Farm last Saturday. It was pleasing to see "one of the babies" make it from the sale ring to the winning stall in a metropolitan race. http://www.aapracing.com.au/news/racing/RNS-article34675 http://www.aapracing.com.au/news/racing/RNS-article35102

We are still using Equissage. Kerrin and Kristie are doing and Equus Muscle Management course this month to compliment the Equissage Machine Therapy. Details of this technique can be found athttp://www.equusmusclemanagement.com.au/ We have purchased two EQUISSAGE MACHINES http://www.equissage.com.au/ and this will enable us to treat the horses on a more regular basis. In summary, Equissage horse physiotherapy incorporates a unique three way cycloidal action which stimulates circulation, lymphatic drainage, relaxation of muscle, and increased joint mobility. We have purchased 2 additional tendon boots to work on the horses that have sustained injury in the past and also to prevent injury in the future. The tendon boots are also ideal for treating shin shoreness and a range of other problems. We intend to use the machine on certain horses before work and on all horses in the afternoons after workouts.

"ONITSEAR" Ridden by Ken Pope - Sunshine Coast, June 2007
UPDATE: NOISY SCOOTER was successful again at Towoomba in a 3YO QTIS Race. He has had a great start with 2 wins from 5 starts in his first racing prep. Congrats to Danny and Linda Driscoll. The week continued in good fashion for the team and David Peoples trained another 2 winners on Friday at the Sunshine Coast Turf club Cushion Track meeting. These were NOISY SCOOTER (owned by Dan Driscoll) and MY TINKERBELL (owned by Rob and Renae Karam).
NOISY SCOOTER.....scooting to Victory with Shaun Guymer aboard.
MY TINKERBELL ridden by Andrew Spinks. Congratulations to SHAUN GUYMER riding his first Queensland winner at Toowoomba on the 14th of November. CHEAPSKATERUBI won the 2nd time on the Cushion Track for connections and this is his favoured surface due to his history of feet problems. We have done a swap with our Apprentices for a month so they can gain experience in a different environment, Nicole is on loan to Danny Williams in Goulbourn.
Ollie and I visited FINCH FARM this weekend and decided to give David Finch and wanted to congratulate David Finch, Robert Moffat and team on their new foals and amazing stallions! For a preview on these amazing horses follow the link: It was an Oaks Day all around as we had a filly born yesterday at 5.28pm. Everyone was there to witness the birth so it was an exciting time for the Team and the kids! Whipcrackinfloosie - Rock of Cashel Liver Chestnut Filly
Monday October 19: Extract from the Morning Bulletin in Rockhampton featuring the Magic Millions Ready to Run Sale: http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au/story/2009/10/19/cq-has-eye-on-youngsters/ It's breeze up time again at SCRL and we are in full swing educating and preparing the babies for sale. Our campaign has been successful to date with Lot 48 SHARMADAL - QUAFFLE Colt selling privately to Singapore after breezing up in the first session, well done to the connections! Full details of our Ready to Run Catalogue are available on: SCRL Horses for Sale Page: http://www.suncoastracinglodge.com.au/horses_for_sale.html Magic Millions On-Line Catalogue (Under the Name of Sunshine Coast Racing Lodge): http://magicmillions.ddm.magsbyme.com/ebook_search/index/ebook_id/70/image_type/png Or; Track to Track Magazine (Page 20 - 21) http://www.tracktotrack.com.au/view_online_t2t54.html Another initiative we are proud to support is the Horselife 2010 calendar, a charity initiative in the form of a calendar that has teamed fine horses and horsemen of the Sunshine Coast to raise money for Riding for the Disabled. The horse supplied by us was HAPPY GIGGLESON (Trained by David Peoples and ridden by Nathan Thomas). Below are links to the story and the picture. Please support this charity and buy a Calendar! SCRL's consistent run of placings has continued and some of our babies have stepped out for the first time which we have been happy with as it's always a hard task getting them to the track as 2YO's. We were particulary happy with our NZ bred 3YO filly LA PINOT's run last start over 2240m at Doomben, only beaten 4l she is a true stayer in the making and we are looking forward to some longer distance races over the winter for her. |
